Nursing 2000--Northern Indiana

 

ORGANIZATION

 

Nursing 2000 North is a not-for-profit educational organization founded in 2001 as a collaborative effort between nursing service and nursing education.  The organization provides a systematic approach to promote nursing as a profession and impact future nursing resources.  Members are registered nurses from health care agencies, universities, professional nursing associations, and communities who work together to advance the mission of Nursing 2000 North.

 

MISSION

 

The mission of Nursing 2000 North is to promote and support registered nursing careers to positively impact clinical and academic nursing workforce resources utilizing contemporary strategies to reach diverse populations.

 

PURPOSE

 

Through agreed upon strategies for its collaborating members, Nursing 2000 North promotes opportunities, rewards, and role diversity of the nursing profession through public education, career counseling, scholarships, and unique career awareness programming in the 6 Indiana counties it serves (Lake, Porter, La Porte, St. Joseph, Elkhart, and Marshall).

 

VISION

 

Nursing 2000 North will provide unique nursing career development programs and services in northern Indiana that focus on diversity and educational advancement opportunities which will result in stronger career pipelines for primary and second career opportunities, graduate education, as well as a more diverse workforce.

 

GOALS

 

  • To disseminate information about registered nursing as a dynamic profession to the following groups: elementary, middle and high school students; adult learners; career mobility nurses.
  • To support nurses in educational career mobility and clinical practice to advance nursing careers.
  • To impact the education of nurses through collaboration between nursing service and education.
  • To recruit a diverse student body reflective of the regional population.
  • To attract students into nursing who have demonstrated those potential academic abilities that will lead to a successful career in registered nursing.
  • To reflect a positive image of nursing to the public.

 

VOLUNTEERS

 

Nursing 2000 North activities are implemented by RN volunteers.  Following an orientation, new volunteers may select the type of activity they prefer.  Choices include classroom and community presentations, career fairs, projects, and committee membership.  Most volunteer activities range from 45 minutes to two hours with day, evening, and weekend opportunities available.

Nursing 2000 North provides a variety of programs and activities in the 6 county area of Northern Indiana targeted to the following groups: elementary, middle and high school students; adult learners; second career changers; and career mobility nurses. Programs Include:

  • Nursing Scholarships to Area Schools of Nursing

 

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 

To help students with their financial commitments, Nursing 2000 North conducts an annual fund raising event to provide nursing scholarships.  All proceeds from the benefit are awarded in the form of nursing scholarships to students from our schools of nursing.  Nursing 2000 North is proud to present the next Scholarship Benefit on Friday, September 17, 2010.


2010 Scholarship applications are now being accepted.  The deadline for submission is
4PM, July 15, 2010

Donors may create memorial and honorary scholarships in amounts of $1,000 or greater.
